I’m back!
So, here’s the deal, the next few blog posts are going to probably be pretty huge, making up for the one’s I missed. But I wanted to go ahead and let you guys know what I did in the writing department last month (since I haven’t done hardly any writing related things yet in September).
What I’ve Accomplished This Month
So, my new goal was to track a total of 35k on WordKeeper Alpha for the month. I didn’t quite make it, but I did come in at 30,873, which is close. I probably could have made it if Harvey hadn’t been such a jerk, but that’s okay. Let’s break this down!
- Double the Baggins, Twice the Took– 3 chapters posted (complete!)
I finished posting this fic! It was such a bittersweet moment, both for me and for my readers. I’m pretty sure very few saw my ending coming, which is always so satisfying. I just hope that the sequel is as successful and gives everyone the satisfaction they deserve for putting up with me 🙂
- Fading Flower, Broken Stone (DBTT sequel)- 2 chapters posted
This was one less chapter than I had planned to post (again, Harvey), but I’m planning to make up for the deficit this month, so I should still be on track to have this finished before November. I’ve also realized that this needs one more chapter written at the end, but I’m waiting to write it until later, because I want to make sure that everything is going to stay the same from first draft to posted chapters. I think it will, but…
- Doubt The Stars- Development edits complete, sent to copy editor
This was a close call, but I did manage to finish everything before the storm hit. And then my copy editor emailed me while I was away from my laptop!
She was really great about it though, and I was able to get the book to her just a day or two later 🙂 So now it’s just another waiting game…
- Broken Parts (A Winter Soldier fanfic)– 12,218 words written
This was where I fell the most short this month, but that’s okay. Like I said in last month’s post, this is just gravy, mostly something to keep me busy on slow days at the day job. I still got quite a bit written, and I’m very pleased with what I have so far! I’m setting it aside for the rest of September because I want to focus on an original story for a bit, but I feel like I have a good start to build on later!
What’s Coming Up in (the rest of) September
Since I’m just now getting myself put back together after everything, I’m lowering my monthly overall goal to 25k. I’ve split that up as best I can, but I’m not too worried about it this month. We’ll see what happens!
- Doubt The Stars– receive copy edits and begin necessary changes, inquire about proofreading and blurb edit.
Not much I can do here until I get the copy editor’s work back. She emailed me the other day and said it’s going very well, so hopefully it won’t take too long to get through and I can send it off to the proofreader. I also need to get my terrible blurb to an editor, because I’m really bad at this stuff. Like, seriously you guys, it’s bad.
- Fading Flower, Broken Stone (DBTT sequel)– post five chapters
I posted two chapters this past week, and I’ll probably post another two chapters next week, and then I’ll be back to weekly posting…again.
I know. I really am trying though. Really!
- Good Intentions (Age of Ultron fic): First pass edit, 33 scenes
I was planning to use all of September and October to get through both passes of my edit on this fic, so it would be ready to start posting in December. That’s not going to happen now, I get that. So instead, I’m using the rest of September and October to just do the first pass on it. I’m so over trying to kill myself on these things. Seriously.
I’m just gonna do my best, and it’s gonna have to be enough. I’m still so in love with my Marvel stories, but I worry that I’m taking too long to get them out and my fans will have lost interest. Next year I’m going to try to play the catch up game, but with my original fiction finally getting published, I worry I won’t have the time or the energy. I’m going to try my best though, because I still have so much to tell with these stories 🙂
- Wonderland Reclaimed– write 5000 words
Yeah, I know, it’s been a while. But one of my goals for this year was to finally finish the first draft of this story, and I would at least like to make an attempt at it. I don’t think it’s going to happen, but I need something to work on during slow times at the day job. May as well be this!
And now, the real reason you all read this blog:
Fog’s Cute Animal of the Month
The pink fairy armadillo! Officially named the pichiciego, they are the smallest of the armadillos, and they are very delicate, almost impossible to keep alive in captivity for any length of time. Which means it is very hard to study them.
Look at those feet, y’all! I love it! Look at ’em go!
And look how happy this one is!
So cute!
See you guys next time!
